Microneedling FAQs

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is done using small needles which penetrate the skin creating a controlled โ€œmicro-injuryโ€. This stimulates the bodies healing response which stimulates collagen and elastin production.

What are the benefits?

  • Visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles

  • Breaks down scar tissue (ex: acne scars)

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation

  • Shrinks pores

  • Helps product absorption (we use stem cells and hyaluronic acid while needling)

  • Tightens skin

  • Cost effective

  • Very little downtime

Does it hurt?

No. We use numbing creams prior to your treatment which ensures very little to no pain.

Is there any downtime?

When you leave your appointment, your face will be quite pink/red (this is a good thing!). You may experience a mild โ€œsun-burnโ€ sensation and you should avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours and wear spf if going outside. Your skin may be slightly rosey/pink the following day, but you may resume wearing mineral makeup the day following your treatment.  You may get some light peeling or flaking a few days after your procedure.

How long will it take to see results?

Many see improvement within a week, but you will notice the final result 4 weeks following the treatment and the results can continue improving the skin for up to 6 months!

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend one session every 6-8 weeks until you reach your skin goals (usually 3-4 sessions). Then come 1-4 times per year to maintain the antiaging effects.

Can I get microneedling the same day as my brow or other cosmetic tattoo treatments?

Yes! We would do your cosmetic tattoo first THEN the microneedling treatment.

What should I do to prepare?

  • Avoid retinols, chemical peels, or other abrasive skin treatments 1 week prior and 1 week after your treatment.

  • Come in without makeup if possible.

  • Do not come in within 4 hours of receiving Botox as you will not be able to lay down flat.

  • Wait 2 weeks after receiving facial fillers (with the exception of lip filler as we will not be needling the lips).

  • Avoid Accutane for 6 months prior to the appointment.

  • Do not wax or shave the face the day of the appointment.

  • Avoid sun exposure/tanning beds for 48 hours prior.

  • Do not get laser/IPL for at least 7 days prior.

  • Avoid blood thinners such as alcohol, aspirin or ibuprofen for 24 hours before your procedure.

  • Wear spf of 30 or higher.

  • Avoid exercising, steam or excess heat the day of your procedure.

  • Do not apply makeup until the following day.
